Linux drm/xe GPU kernel driver (suspend/shutdown without display): The xe driver oopses on suspend or shutdown
Impact
The xe driver oopses on suspend or shutdown on configurations with no display probed - which is exactly the headless datacenter GPU configuration. Effect is a dirty shutdown rather than a clean one, which risks filesystem and checkpoint state on nodes that reboot under automation.
Who can reach it
No attacker; fires on normal shutdown of a headless xe node.
What to do
Fix ships in the Linux kernel. Update the kernel and reboot the node - in practice this is a drain plus reboot because the accelerator driver cannot be unloaded while jobs hold device file descriptors. No BIOS or firmware update needed.
